Procedure

  • Brainstorm the concept: “Path of Career” The following definition is useful to introduce this concept to students. “Career path is a planned logical sequence of jobs within one or more professions through which a person can progress in the course of their working life”.
  • Career path involves understanding what knowledge, skills, personal characteristics, and experience are required for an employee to progress his or her career.  No matter your age, it can’t hurt to start thinking about your future. What are your interests? What things are important to you? (Things that are important to you are called your values.) Whether you are interested in art, computers, medicine, or countless other possibilities, planning for your future is an ongoing process. It includes:
    •      Learning
    •      Setting goals
    •      Taking risks
    •      Making choices

    Procedure:

    • View and study the YouTube video: The secret to creating your future

    • After watching the video, share your reactions by discussing the video fellow Aspirantes.
    • Download and complete the handout  What Do You Want to Be in the Future this is a concept web which will help you define your professional future . This is good opportunity for you to self-reflect.
    • The facilitator will use the same student- created web to guide a discussion about careers and path to careers.
    • For homework, work with your parents/guardians to complete a questionnaire about their talents, hobbies, likes, dislikes, and values. (download the Handout The “Getting To Know Me” - Questionnaire). This will help guide your self-discovery process. Parents will become an important part in this process. You share the questionnaire and your responses in class the following day.
